Peter N. Silvestri was elected village
president in April, 1989, after a long record of community and
government service. Silvestri also currently serves as Cook County
Commissioner (9th District) and was past president of the West Central
Municipal Conference, an association of 38 west suburban villages,
towns and cities. Silvestri served as president of the Leyden
Norwood Park Municipal League from 1990 to 1994. He was very
active as a student leader at Elmwood Park High School and as a
teen coordinator at the Civic Center. At the age of 20, he was
elected to the District 401 School Board. After two terms on the
Board, leaving as its president, Silvestri served on the Zoning
Board, Plan Commission, Civic Foundation, and as village trustee
prior to his election. Silvestri is a licensed attorney,
having graduated from DePaul University and its College of Law. He
has lived in the community since 1971. |
Elsie Sutter was first elected Village
Clerk in April, 1993, after serving as Secretary of the Mont
Clare-Elmwood Park Chamber of Commerce, Secretary of the Northwest
Metropolitan Economic Development Committee, and as a board member
of the St. Nicholas Albanian Orthodox Church. Sutter served on the
Board of Directors of the Civic Foundation, our local 4th of July
committee. In the past, Sutter served as a member and
officer of the Elm School Parents and Teachers Organization and
Elmwood Park High School TAPA (Teachers and Parents Association).
Sutter has lived in the village since 1951. In 2001, was a
recipient of the Illinois Woman of Achievement Award sponsored by
the State of Illinois Office of the Lieutenant Governor Corrine
Wood. This award is given to women who demonstrate excellence in
their professional or volunteer work and dedicate their time and
effort to enhance their communities. |
