All food service establishments within the village are inspected on an annual basis. The sanitation inspections apply to restaurants, food stores and mobile food establishments. The sanitation requirements are regulated in accordance with the rules and regulations developed by the Illinois Department of Public Health. Environmental Sanitation

Environmental sanitation involves the enforcement of codes established by the Village of Elmwood Park. The codes that are enforced by the Health Department relate to, trash/garbage, weeds/high grass, complaints regarding domesticated animals, and rodent/insect infestation. All environmental complaints are investigated, and a follow up inspection is performed to ensure compliance. Citations are issued if so indicated to enforce compliance of the village codes.
