Thank you for your interest in the Elmwood Park
Police Department. The Department is located in the Village’s
Public Safety Building at 7420 W. Fullerton Avenue. The
facility’s environment was designed to encourage citizen and
police communication for the purpose of preventing crime in
addition to the apprehension and processing of offenders.
Our community enjoys a low crime rate and an
excellent quality of life. We attribute this, in part, to our
comprehensive approach to delivering police services. We begin
by regularly analyzing our current crime trends and patterns.
Then, we adjust our deterrent and investigative techniques to
prevent, to the best of our ability, future incidents. Our
Community Oriented Policing Officer and School Resource Officer
begin preventing tomorrow’s crimes and building partnerships
with our available kindergarten through fourth grade programs,
such as, Child Safety, Officer Friendly and Stranger Danger. In
the fifth grade, we provide Drug Abuse Resistance Education
(DARE) training and in the sixth grade Gang Resistance Education
and Training (GREAT). Then in the seventh grade, we go back into
our schools at the junior high level and teach an
enhanced/refresher DARE Program.
Other programs offered by our Community
Oriented Policing Office include a railroad safety program
designed for all ages, home and business security evaluations,
community meetings and training seminars. To address immediate
problems that you or other members of the community may
experience, our Problem Oriented Policing (POP) Officer is there
to quickly respond. This officer is not required to answer
regular calls for service, thereby, allowing the officer the
required time to continue focusing on your problem until it is
resolved.
Of course, our aggressive Patrol
Division combined with our Traffic Unit, to include our new and
fully certified Motor Vehicle Accident Reconstruction Officer,
Investigators, Juvenile, Records Personnel, Bicycle Patrol and
Auxiliary Unit are all there ready to serve you. Thank you for
allowing us the opportunity to protect this fine community and,
if you should have any further questions, or if we may be of any
other assistance, please feel free to contact us at
708-453-2137.
